BIO

2000 – 2011 PROJECT MANAGER

From the start of my career I have been a capable operator.  After my first year of professional work I was given the responsibility of my own projects to run and spent a decade as a project manager, finishing my projects on time and on budget.

2012-2015 PM & LEAN LEADER

One day a simple unassuming man came to my project at my boss’ request and ran a pull plan with the subcontractors on my project and my life was forever changed.  I could see immediately how much more powerful his approach was compared with the traditional scheduling methods.  I continued to learn and apply Last Planner System from others and leadership had me coach other projects in Lean methods, but they were not ready to commit to wholesale operational change.

2015 – 2021 LEAN SPECIALIST & COACH

Unsatisfied with construction as usual, I was recruited aboard a company that had already decided and committed resources to the change.  After 3 years of coaching projects our division was the most profitable, setting company records two years in a row.  However, project level change had little effect on the broader company culture – leadership support was not equivalent to leadership engagement.

2021 – 2022 DIRECTOR OF OPS

Finally given the chance to lead the change from the top, I poured everything I had into living the change, which proved to be too much.  Some see failure as final, some see it as an opportunity.  I can see now that it is not possible to be the one maintaining the integrity of an operation while at the same time changing it.

2022 – Present TXOpEx CONSULTANT

Leadership is an ability, but being a Change Agent is my gifting.  Understanding both operators and leaders, practiced in the application of Lean, 25 years working in the construction industry, and a decade of coaching projects and improving company operations has made me uniquely adapted to help firms ready to embark on their own journey of operational excellence.
